This is hilarious, and has some great scenes from some excellent zombie films as well...

Captain America Shot on Courthouse Steps
Captain America, the Sentinel of Liberty, the Star-Spangled Avenger, has been shot dead by a sniper on the steps of a New York courthouse, the New York Times reports today. He was 66.
In the wake of Civil War, the Marvel Universe-wide event that pretty much pitted everybody against everybody else, but was plagued by delays and no small amount of disappointment, I guess Marvel figured they needed a little extra 'oomph' to cap it all off.
I'm not a Marvel Zombie (although, ironically, I did really enjoy Marvel Zombies), but as a long-time reader of comics, hell, even just a citizen of North America, I know one thing for sure: Cap will be back. I'm getting a bit cynical about this, as you may have suspected, but I must express my comparative admiration for DC Comics, who killed off my namesake, The Flash, in 1985, and haven't succumbed to the pressure to bring him back. Although Barry Allen is dead, at least he has the good sense to stay that way and avoid stupid publicity stunts.
Nevertheless, I'll pick up Cap's comic this week and give you a review soon.

Seems So Slow
Great video - the song is called 'The Ballad of Barry Allen' and comes from the band Jim's Big Ego - the lead singer's name is Jim Infantino, I'll let the readers guess where the inside joke in that is...

Geek Toy of the Week
From the good folks at Firebox.com comes this handy solution to the problem of not enough USB ports for your computer - the TARDIS 4-Way USB Hub - not only is it a hub, but it provides lights and sounds as well. Truly, the perfect gift for the Geek in your life.

See, Mom, You Can Get A Job Doing This. Or At Least an Education.
Or at the very least get yourself a grant from Wizards of the Coast to start or maintain your on-campus RPG.
Which will mean you'll get twice as many hot college girls as before by using your devotion to D&D as a pick-up line... Which is probably a -15 CHA penalty.
"Wow, you just granted me a hardness bonus of +10!"
"Did you just cast 'Enlarge Person'?"
"You're so beautiful I'm stunned for 1d4 rounds."

We Are Not Alone!
For those of you who haven't seen it before, "Invader Zim" is an absolutely hilarious cartoon which showed originally on the Nickelodeon network.
My favourite moment comes at about 1:26 - "Take me to the WEASELS!"

From the Depths I Come (and yet another geek legend passes)
Hi everyone!
Sorry I've been gone for so long but this pesky thing called Real Life got in the way for a bit. Fortunately, Flash was there to pick up the slack, but I'm back and will be getting back into the posting biz.
Following up on Flash's post on Yvonne De Carlo, I thought I'd post on another geek legend that passed away too quickly, writer Robert Anton Wilson, truly a legend amongst those geeks who love conspiracy theories. I remember reading both the Illuminatus and Schrodinger's Cat trilogy years ago and still have my copy of this epic.

Another Geek Legend Passes On...
Just wanted to mention the death of Yvonne DeCarlo on January 8, 2007. She is best known as the legendary Lily Munster on "The Munsters", which only ran for two years, but will no doubt be remembered longer than most of the drivel that's on now...
What surprised me was the revelation that she was born in Vancouver - Another Canadian to add to the list of geek idols.

Hideous Control Now...
Part 3 of the epic "Pod People"
Why does it look like an English-language movie was dubbed in English?

Happy New Year!
For the start of the new year, a new bit 'o media. For those of you who have never heard of it, there used to be a little show called "Mystery Science Theater 3000", or MST3K for short. Anyone who loves bad movies will love this show. This is Part 1 of "Pod People", just about the funniest episode of the whole series.
